Model, TikTok personality, musician and entrepreneur Michael Thomas White is not here to play!

Michael Thomas White is a force to be reckoned with! Coming from Columbus Ohio to the big city of New York at only 26 he has been delving deep in modelling, entrepreneurship and music. His funny skits and personality have helped him become an influence throughout the social media scene. If you are just hearing about MTW you must be following him on social media. Get to know more about this multi-talented musician below!

What name do you go by?

It’s a long list of names that I go by. Friends call me Mike or Michael. My artist/stage name is Michael Thomas White.

What do you do and how did you discover your talent?

I have done a lot of things in wildly different fields, and I’ve been fortunate to turn my passions into businesses. I am most known for my music and Tik Toks, which started about a year ago. I love the platform as a way to express myself and build a fun community. I have experienced a pretty quick rise, amassing 14k followers since I started in late 2021. I also own a watch company @wallacewhiteco that got on Amazon, and is having success on the platform. I don’t know if I’ve had a “discovery” moment, so much as that I’m consistent with my habits.

What do you hope to share with the world using your talent?

I hope to bring joy and create fun experiences for people. For me, I love music, skits, and laughing. I think of my content as the intersection of all three. The best thing for me to hear is when people say their entire friend group are fans and send each other my Tik Toks. It feels like I’m creating something meaningful for other people.

What are some challenges you face as a creator?

I think the early days of being a creator are the toughest. Your videos are not going to be a smashing success right away. I got into Tik Tok because I wanted people to hear the EP I made. To do so, I needed to learn how to get people’s interest through short-form videos and that’s a tough skill to get. However, eventually you will get better. I think that initial stretch of getting the first 10k followers as someone new to entertainment is the toughest part nowadays. It’s a lot more fun for me now that I can see that my videos and music are resonating with people.

How do you get past the feeling of feeling stuck creatively and what gets you back in the zone?

There will be times where I feel like I need to evolve as an artist or move on from a certain video format. I’ve learned to trust my gut with that stuff. For instance, right now it’s getting closer to Christmas and I live in New York. A fan online commented on one of my Tik Toks that I should get a Buddy the Elf costume and recreate scenes from the movie. I thought it was a great idea and my gut says that a lot of people will like it, so I went ahead and purchased the outfit. Now, when something excites me for a video, I move quickly. And if it fails, I move on quickly as well.

What's some advice you would give to someone wanting to pursue your field?

Be consistent and never stop. Dreams do come true. I’ve sold out 3 shows in New York since moving to the city and since releasing my first EP in 2021. Attack content creation with all you’ve got and understand that momentum is a real thing. Be open to feedback as a musician and as a creator - each is a different skillset, but you need to be adept at both to make it as an upcoming artist today.

What songs would you recommend for first time listeners?

Check out my viral song “Dancing in the Kitchen”. There is an easy dance that goes along with it, which is fun to do with your friends. There’s recently been a remix made to that song, which I named “Trackstar”, which was done by an awesome young producer named Desmond whose artist name on Spotify is Walkabout. After that, check out “Are You Proud of Me?”. I filmed a music video for it in Sweden last summer, which was made by a Swedish production company called Art Rules; we all worked really hard on set and made an incredible music video, featuring a lot of the beautiful areas around Stockholm.

What inspires you?

I find inspiration in all areas of life. In songs, I like to write about love. Music feels like the one place where it’s okay to let those feelings out. It’s an amazing therapy because songwriting really puts you in a place where you can tell your truth. I also find inspiration in the people I follow on Instagram / Tik Tok. I also love to watch and learn from artist interviews on YouTube. Hearing about how another artist “came up” inspires me whenever I see parallels in our lives.

Where can we follow you?
